Sometimes african pygmy hedgehogs (APH) get dry feet. Maxwell and Friends This Little Piggy Moisturizer is light and made especially for dry feet. (No offense to Maxwell or his friends for the name of this product. Should it be "Little Hoggy" rather than "Piggy"? APH votes ONLY.) 2 ounces in glass bottle or a 10 ml glass roller ball bottle. Shake well before using. The rollerball can be applied directly to feet if there is no crustiness (see below).
This blend can be used by people too! But I would not share the rollerball with your APH for their protection and yours.
Ingredients in this blend include Organic Oils of coconut, olive, calendula, apricot kernel and almond infused with chamomile flowers. It also includes lanolin, argan oil and vitamin E with the appropriate amount of 100% pure therapeutic grade lavender essential oil to soothe Maxwell and his friends. An added benefit is that lavender essential oil is known to prevent lice (and ticks) and it is known for antimicrobial and antibacterial properties. However, please conduct your own research and consult with your veterinarian as needed.
If your hedgie shows signs of disliking the blend, it is most likely because he or she doesn't like the lavender essential oil. I haven't heard of this, but I do also offer this blend unscented.
IMPORTANT NOTE: If your hedgehog has a crust-likeformation on his or her feet, please see your vet for medical care. Sometimes this can be a sign of a fungal infection and it's best to rule out any medical issues. Please do your own research, but I would take Maxwell to the vet right away if crust forms on his feet.
